History
Sigma Tau Delta was founded at Dakota Wesleyan College in May of 1924. Dr. Judson Q. Owen founded this Honor Society in Mitchell, South Dakota. He was also the first editor of The Rectangle. The purpose of Sigma Tau Delta is to brevet distinction upon undergraduate, graduate, and scholars in academia as well as upon professional writers who have made accomplishments in literary or linguistic realms of the English language.
