Purpose: To enhance and maintain
an environment that fosters cultural, intellectual, and social
curiosity in the sciences and increase graduates pursuing graduate
and professional health education. Membership: Membership is open
to all majors at Fayetteville State Univ.
2007-2008 SCIENCE CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Although primarily
comprised of biology and chemistry majors, the Fayetteville
State University Science Club promotes an open enrollment
policy to all students (including graduates and
undergraduates). The goals of the Science Club are to promote
academic excellence in sciences; to increase scientific
awareness; to promote strong leadership; and, to provide
students with a meaningful and rewarding college
experience. With
an average annual membership of more than 60 students, the
Science Club sponsors many campus-wide, as well as
community-based programs. As members of the Science Club,
students enjoy a plethora of career development programs and
fun activities, ranging from pre-graduate and pre-health
profession seminars and field trips to graduate and
professional schools, not to the exclusion of enjoying social
events, such as pizza and skating parties, as well as going to
the movies.

Upon membership into the science
club, member are expected to be present at a majority of the
scheduled meetings in order to gain information about
upcoming opportunities and/or scheduled events involving
club participation.

Membership dues are $35.00 per
academic year for new members, $20.00 for renewing
members.

For new members joining
without having prior membership before the spring semster:
$25.00 with a t-shit
included, and $15.00 without a t-shirt
included.

Active participants who
have not paid dues after membership deadline may be denied
participation from certain club events and
benefits.

There will be no refunds
of membership dues, unless approved by the
advisor.

- Receive first-hand information on
post-undergraduate programs in science, summer internships, job
opportunities, academic and
career advisement, free seminars on improving test-taking
skills, preparation of resumé, applications to internships and
admissions to post-undergraduate science-related programs.
- Eligibility for the Science Club Scholarship awarded each
spring semester
- Tour professional and graduate schools and
universities.
- Build a strong
resumé with an array of community and university involvement.
- Free or reduced rates for educational trips and Social
events such as skating, movies, bowling, etc
