The Delta Gamma Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Student Leaders Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund at Fayetteville State University

Purpose: To establish an endowed scholarship fund in the name of the Delta Gamma Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Student Leaders. This will recognize all Brothers who have pledged at Fayetteville State University in a special tribute to the honor and memory of Brothers who have passed.  The scholarship will be awarded annually to a returning Delta Gamma Chapter Brother.

Description: A special fundraising campaign will be inaugurated to raise a minimum of $10,000, the required minimum for an endowed scholarship.  The scholarship will be named the Delta Gamma Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Student Leaders Memorial Scholarship and the recipients will be known as a Delta Gamma Scholars.  As with all endowment, only the interest on the gift (approximately 5%) is spent, thus the annual scholarship award will be approximately $500.  The recipient will be selected on the basis of student leadership as well as good academic standing and being an active member of Delta Gamma Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

The Delta Gamma Scholarship intends to aid with tuition and fees and possibly supplement other financial aid so that the recipient will not need a full time or part time job to make ends meet. Delta Gamma Student leaders have a tremendous obligation of their time to meetings, campus events, and ceremonial activities in addition to their studies.  They represent Delta Gamma Chapter and Fayetteville State University to both the student body and the public.  The prestige of their leadership role distinguishes the University in the eyes of their Brothers and Advisors, in the media, and to the public at large.  It is fitting that they should be introduced and known as Delta Gamma Scholars to add to the prestige of such an honor having been established at the University.  The moniker “Delta Gamma Scholar” will become synonymous with leadership, duty, achievement and commitment.  It is a title that Brothers would include proudly on their resume -- and aspire to.

If fundraising exceeds the minimum goal, additional scholarships will be awarded.  A higher goal might be established--$50,000 perhaps.   We can imagine the impact that a critical mass of student leaders scholarships will make on the thinking of inspired minds and motivated young men at Delta Gamma Chapter.

If you wish to help honor the life and memory of all of Delta Gamma’s fallen Brothers.
