Mission Statement and Goals
I. MISSION STATEMENT AND GOALS
The National Association of Title III Administrators (NATTA) was
established in 1979 as a professional development organization with membership open to all
Title III Administrators at institutions funded under Title III of the Higher Education
Act of 1965, as amended. The primary purpose of NATTA is to provide a forum through
which Title III Administrators may network, interact, and share ideas for the further
development enhancement of their knowledge and competence thereby enhancing their
effectiveness as Title III Program/administrators, in particular, and higher education
administrators in general.
The mission of NATTA is reflected in the following strategic goals:
1. To provide opportunities for members of the
organization to network with one another through national, regional, and state conferences
and workshops for professional growth and development.
2. To provide leadership in efforts to procure and
maintain an adequate level of funding for Title III funded institutions.
3. To serve as a clearinghouse in keeping the Title III
community informed on important and appropriate national issues affecting and/or having
the potential of affecting the Title III Program.
4. To maintain a database on consultants who are
recommended by Title III Coordinators.
5. To provide technical assistance to member
institutions through required workshops and on-site campus visits by Title III colleagues
at other institutions.
6. To assist the Title III Program in sponsoring the
Annual National Title III Workshops and in other ways as requested and appropriated.
7. To ensure that there is adequate proper and on-going
communication between the organization and Secretary of Education or his/her designee(s).
This will facilitate effective and efficient communication between the Department
of Education and Title III administrators.
8. To facilitate an appropriate working relationship
among all categories (Parts A,B,C) of Title III funded institutions in order to optimize
support for and benefits of Title III Programs as a whole.
II. IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES
The following strategies will be undertaken in order to achieve the goals
and mission of NATTA:
1. Establish/maintain appropriate and effective working
relationship with the United State Department of Education, in general, and the
Institutional Development and Undergraduate Education Service - Title III Administration
in particular, through regular and systematic contacts and communication. This will
include meetings/contacts with appropriate United States Department of Education
Officials.
2. Conduct at least one annual meeting of Title III
Administrators with adequate and appropriate time designated for conducting Title III
business.
3. Maintain effective communication with Title III
community by publishing a quarterly Title III newsletter, updating/maintaining a Title III
web page, updating/maintaining The Source.
4. Establish a membership fee for the National
Association of Title III Administrators.
5. Employ an individual or agency to manage the
implementation process, including the achievement of the goals.
