CHAPTER HISTORY

The Epsilon Beta Chapter was founded April 14, 1962 at Fayetteville State (Teacher) College, now Fayetteville State University. The first Scroller Club consisted of fourteen members, nine of whom became the first charter members of Epsilon Beta. These Founders were Brothers Aaron N. Mozingo, William Smith, Jesse F. Williams, Fred Ellis, James Davis, John Smith, Paul Jackson, Willie Sessoms, and Willis McLeod. Brother Jesse F. Williams became the first Chapter Polemarch; Brother Aaron N. Mozingo, the first Vice Polemarch; Brother Willis McLeod, the first Keeper of Records; Brother Smith, the first Keeper of Exchequer. One of the Founding Brothers, Jesse F. Williams, finished his schooling at Fayetteville State College and went on to attend Howard University's School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree. Another prominent brother, Willis McLeod, also finished his studies at Fayetteville State College and continued his education at the University of Virginia, where he received a Ed.D. After some time and many accomplishments, Dr. Willis McLeod returned to Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is now Chancellor McLeod, former Chancellor of Fayetteville State University. Epsilon Beta has been known throughout the years for its many community service projects, leadership, and academics. The tradition has been reaffirmed and is destined to continue.
