POLICE DEPARTMENT CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM

Together for a safe campus

MISSION

bulletThe mission of the Crime Prevention Program is to support the Campus Police Department by implementing programs that will help to detect, remove, or reduce the opportunities for crime.  This is accomplished through educational programs that teach self awareness, emphasize personal safety, and encourage involvement to help make the campus a safe place for everyone.

NET TIPS

bullet

Each day a crime prevention tip is sent to the University faculty/staff and students by E-Mail to help reduce the risk of becoming a crime victim whether at  work or home.  The goal is to heighten awareness of our surroundings and to remind us that we have the power to effect the outcome of a crime risk.  Little things such as;  locking doors, being alert, taking that extra second to roll up a vehicle window, putting valuables out of sight, and just making it harder and more time consuming for a would be criminal to perpetrate a crime.  Hopefully the tips will affect someone's thinking about what  can be done for their own safety, the safety of the campus community, our homes, and wherever we are on a day to day basis.

The student radio station WFSB run infomercials that carry crime prevention tips throughout the day during broadcasting.  WFSB is a student run station and is manned by volunteers.  It runs between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
