Scope of Operation

bullet

Provide assistance to HBCUs on infrastructure issues;

bullet

Work with groups such as university presidents, deans, department chairs and faculty in special education areas;

bullet

To encourage institutions of higher education (IHE) programs for a career-ladder approach to special education training with emphasis on the involvement of African-American special education paraprofessionals;

bullet

Provide project participants with information on funding sources;

bullet

Disseminate OCR Minority Competition Request for Proposals (RFPs) to higher education network.

bullet

Provide review panels for any proposals to be submitted by project participants.

There are three other centers funded by the New Alliance Project. The centers are:

Asian/Pacific Colleges and Universities at California State University in Los Angeles California.

Tribal Communities and Colleges Rural American Initiative.
